You and I are a gang of losers
Hello again, world! It's Lauren here, apologizing once again for our temporary hiatus which we failed to explain entirely. I guess you could say that life got in the way, although that's not the greatest of excuses...
Here's what my life consists of on this peachy-keen Friday night: eating dark chocolate, drinking Arizona pomegranate green tea (courtesy of Brian) and pondering the universe with my two closest friends, English Essay and Tumblr. Oh, and talking to Bry! Hahaha. What an exciting life I lead.
Anywho, today my boyfriend and I were listening to CBC radio 1 and they played a song from a local indie band called "You and I are a gang of losers". I thought this was kind of appropriate, seeing as how I can't remember the last time I did homework on a Friday night (most likely because it's never happened before). So here is it! Second song of the day/night, "You and I are a gang of losers" by The Dears:

As for my recent activities, I've been doing a lot of thrifting lately! There are a bunch of really great thrift stores in the village by my college, so it makes for a great time-killer during breaks and after school. I recently went thrifting in the basement of a nearby church with a couple of friends and found some of the greatest stuff: two over-sized knit sweaters, a blue and white pinstripe blouse, a floral print purse, a belt and an adorable tea mug, all for under $20! (Or all for under a quarter of the price of an item from American Apparel, if you want to look at it that way)
Alright, well I'm out! Gotta get some essay-writing in, considering I've got to work all weekend and have a million assignments to do for next week. I'll try and keep blogging, though.
Later, losers,

baby, i'm howlin' for you
Whats up crazy kids? It's finally the weekend! which means it's friday, fun fun fun fun (actually though, not just because of miss r.b.)
Anyways, I'm in quite the good mood as of late... mainly because I'm moving and I get to decorate a new room! This means visiting ikea, which by the way is the best place to go, and get my create juices flowing to make my room as cool as possible. Very exciting stuff. (some of my room-spiration can be viewed above)
I also finally found a floor ticket for the Black Keys, who are coming to Montreal on July 11th (the floor tickets sold out), so obviously this very largely affects my good mood aswell!
On another note, I'm so happy for Kate and William! they are such a beautiful couple and they seem as happy as can be! I might've had a bit of royal wedding fever... teehee.
Just before I go, can't miss the song of the day!

back again, and ready to roll
Lauren and I are so very sorry for the major lack of posts. Today we decided to start our blog up again, thanks to some blogspiration! So bear with us as we continue to document our lives, happenings and generally anything we come across and begin to love.
On another note, summer is fast approaching and we are so excited to break into our hot weather wardrobs! Adding new and beautiful clothes to them is one of our biggest goals for the next few months. Last Thursday, Lauren and I, joined by our two close friends Megan F. and Megan A., went out on the town to celebrate Megan F's birthday! We opted to wear summery clothes (though with tights underneath, because we aren't that narcissistic haha) like shorts and flow-y crop tops! So obviously... we want summer... and we want it now!
Best parts of the night? Starting it out at the most adorable and affordable bring your own wine Italian restaurant on Duluth / St-Denis. Also, when one of our favorite bars (Bifteck) played one of me and lauren's favorite songs, and we just had to get up and jam our little hearts out. (The song being Ghostwriter by RJD2)
So all this to say, we are back and ready to start posting again. Getting our lives ready for an awesome and memorable summer, so be prepared to read about it!
Peace out for now,
B

I was enchanted to meet you
Ahh lazy Sundays... what a perfect opportunity to blog! I apologize profusely on both of our behalves for not blogging in so long. College is, has been, and will continue to be a merciless bitch. And I don't mean just any old bitch, I mean like that bitch you want to smack upside the head real good and hard... (I swear I'm a happy person). Nonetheless, the fact that school is consuming my life isn't really the greatest excuse, so again, I apologize. Here's an extra long and extra awesome ensemble of rantings and ravings by yours truly (Lauren).
We'll begin with music, considering we have some seriously kickass songs we can't wait to share. Today has been one of those days of getting in touch with the dramatic, lovestruck 12 year old hidden somewhere deep inside of me... a.k.a listening to Taylor Swift. I've been a closet Taylor Swift fan for quite some time now, but after listening to her new album Speak Now a few hundred times I've decided it's time to admit to my (slight) obsession. Her music is just too goddamn addictive and easy to relate to. So here it is, first song of the day...
Enchanted by Taylor Swift: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edkiwDCrm2Q
For all you fucking hipsters/music snobs/a combination of the two, here are a few other "songs of the day":
- What Part of Forever by Cee Lo Green:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-aOqKTniYU (credz to Bry)
- Ghostwriter by RJD2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKJeLG8-M5I (credz to Bry)
- Ghosts n Stuff by Deadmau5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QV8eiSA4vqc
- Don't Go by Bring Me The Horizon ft. LIGHTS:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xma4I4PhBeE
As for fashion: fortunately for me and my fellow Liberal Art slaves, Christmas break is on the horizon - which means I'll have plenty of time for relaxing, blogging, partying and most importantly: shopping! Bry and I went downtown shopping recently and scored some sweet new items, including: gorgeous knit circle scarves from Olivia, crop tops and winter leggings on sale from Winners, a vulture ring, hamburger wallet and an adorable Alice in Wonderland mug from Urban Outfitters. We also tried on a bunch of pimpin' fedoras from UO and daydreamed about being rich enough to afford one... it was a beautiful moment.
Anywhoodle, I'm exhausted and really should be getting some work done (because I haven't all weekend... tsk tsk), but I'm sure either I or Bry will be posting again tomorrow to make up for the general lack of blogs. Enjoy the music! Lata hustlas.

searching for the thrill of it
hey y'all! here in montreal where it's freezing cold in the winter, we got snow that stuck to the ground for the first time! Mix that with going to a mall fully decorated christmas style, you could say that today I could really feel the holiday coming closer, can't wait!
So this morning I was finally fed up with living in shoes and little boots and freezing my little toesies outside, I decided to go out and buy tall boots that could somehow last during our insane winters (they're not really good for it, but at least they'll be better than converse haha) and boy, did I find some awesome ones!
I found these at Aldo for a very decent price. I should be getting them in about a week!
I've also been meaning to buy a new ring (a double finger one in particular...) and found a double finger ring (surprise surprise) that says "peace" in cursive, basically I'm in love with it!
Can you feel the excitement? Christmas is coming, school is almost over for break, and I'm getting my tattoo in less that 40 days! Lauren and I will continue keeping you posted with all interesting things that happen to us (:
One last thing, you cannot forget the song of the day! This one's been in my head all week after my friend Mike showed it to me.

Magpie
Hey y'all, it's L again. I know, I know, you just can't get enough of me! I promise this'll be quick, just a little something to make up for the lack of blogs in the past few days... even though it's late. And I'm exhausted. And I'm supposed to be writing about Socrates and Plato's responses to the moral and epistemological relativism of the Sophists (no, I don't know what in fuck's name that means, in case you were wondering).
My good friend Hayley sent me a link to this gorgeous jewelry line called Magpie Jewelry. The Jeanine Payer collection basically got me foaming at the mouth... until I realized that the cheapest item in the entire collection is $210 or something preposterous like that. Bitch please.
I'll post the link regardless, just 'cause it's so damn cute. The collection consists of necklaces, earrings and bracelets - all beautiful in their simplicity - that are engraved with little inspirational prayers and messages. Somebody lend me $300?- L

We've been growing younger
First off, I must take a small paragraph to commend the venue. While Le National still remains my number 1, Club Soda kicks some serious ass! For all you non-Montréalers out there, it's definitely worth a visit (if you're ever in the area, that is). Great atmosphere.
I suppose I'll jump right into it. The night started with Michou, a small-town indie rock band from Windsor, Ontario (reppin'!). Picture this: Jack's Mannequin meets City and Colour meets Death Cab for Cutie. I fell in love with them almost instantly, but how could I not? Their catchphrase, for lack of a better word, is "it's nice to Michou". Adorable!
Needless to say, our song of the day is Growing Younger by Michou: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNIJBJytivk
The synth pop / new wave starlet then appeared, looking comfortable and relaxed in a simple white t-shirt and jeans. As expected, she opened her set with "Second Go". This fun, high-energy song got the whole crowd on their feet - once they got over the initial fanboy/fangirl shock, of course. Something I realized almost immediately is that, while her voice appears somewhat childish and cutesy on the record, she can actually sing! And by sing, I mean really belt shit out.
The crowd was pretty lame initially - what with the heaping amounts of annoying high school girls sporting the iconic headband and huge-ass comb-over that only LIGHTS can pull off - but things got better as the show went on. LIGHTS played each and every song off her record "The Listening", as well as her new single (My Boots) and even some acoustic stuff. While the more poppy and high-energy performances were exciting and fun, it was the softer and more intimate songs that were truly enthralling. Her performance of Pretend (Reprise), which she played on the keyboard, was particularly beautiful - really showed off her voice and range.
Her acoustic set included some stuff off her Acoustic EP, including a cover of Fall Back Down by Rancid and Antoine Dodson's Bed Intruder Song (best moment by far). She was super down-to-earth and charmed the audience with her genuine smile. The set was not at all overdone and acted simply as an accessory to her talent. LIGHTS played several instruments including electric guitar, acoustic guitar, keyboard and, of course, the synth.
I must say that, while LIGHTS is not my favorite artist by any means, her genuine and down-to-earth performance made so many past concerts that I've been to feel sub-par in comparison. She put on an excellent show, so excellent that I can't imagine any member of the audience walking out dissatisfied. I highly recommend you check her out next time she's in your town!
Alrighty, I'm done. I'll probably post a little something later on today, just to make up for the general lack of blogs. Peace out.
